CONGRATULATIONS to the Pride of the Patriots for a truly incredible showing on Saturday!!! You know how you felt when you left the field.  IT WAS ELECTRIC!!! That’s what we have been searching for.  Regardless of ratings, scores, or crowd noise, it’s the performer’s knowledge of execution that dictate success. No trophy or certificate or plaque can affect that moment.

I have been overwhelmed by our progress over the last year and a quarter. This is truly just a starting place.  It just keeps getting better! The big picture of the band is so bright! Thank you for being amazing students!!! You motivate me up in the morning to come to work and keep there until all hours because of your interest in success!!!!

* Big thanks to all the parent chaperones for protecting our students and supervising our section in the lower bowl of the Citrus Bowl.

* Big thanks to the equipment dads and our truck driver, Mike Diaz, for quick moving all the equipment.  It's no small undertaking to move that volume of equipment from place to place.

* Big thanks to the moms and dads who helped with the dog tags and helping to continue that very important Freedom High School tradition.

* Big thanks to the CROWD! Your cheers were LOUD AND PROUD! Thank you for making the trip!

* Big thanks to Dr. Border for attending MPA and showing his support to the band program!

I have heard a number of comments that "band season" is over.  Don't forget that band ends in June. Marching Band is wrapped up but that's only one part of what we do. We will definitely see a transition but that stop our focus on educating students about music.  As a matter of fact, the end of marching band signifies the end of a weekly performance schedule so we are able to focus on longer-term learning gains. Both schedules have their positives and negatives.  Both are busy and require intense planning and focus on the part of teachers, students, directors, and parents.

Calendar Outlook:

Monday, November 9 - All-County Auditions at Lake Nona High School (schedule posted in the band room and below)

November 23-27 – Thanksgiving Break

Thursday, December 10 – Prism Rehearsal – 2:30pm-4:00pm

Friday, December 10 – Prism Rehearsal – 3pm-6pm

Saturday, December 11 – Prism Concerts – 3pm & 7pm

Private Lessons:

Five private lesson teachers are available to teach students right here at Freedom High School. Private lessons are the fastest and easiest way to see individual growth and success on your instrument.  Imagine 30 minutes a week with a single teacher just focused on your playing.  The payoff for the entire band as well as in your efforts for Solo & Ensemble, All-State, & All-County would be unparalleled.

I know some of you already are studying with wonderful teachers who already work wonders with you. We need to expand our base of students taking lessons.

Spirit Wear - Hoodies and Jackets:

I am collecting orders for the next batch of jackets and hoodies. To do another order requires a few minimums:

* Another order of hoodies requires at least nine orders (reduced from twelve). We currently need seven more.

* Another order of jackets requires at least six orders.

You can download the order from “spiritwear.pdf” at http://www.freedombands.ocps.net/forms/

Spirit Wear - Parent Shirts:

I strongly encourage all family members of the “Pride of the Patriots” to get their hands on a red spirit shirt. We are known throughout the school district for our large army of red-shirted volunteers who go crazy in stadiums and auditoriums across Orlando every time the Pride of the Patriots performs. Even if you are not volunteering, please show your Patriot Pride by ordering a bright red “Pride of the Patriots” Spirit Shirt.
